Gillian McKeith taken apart
» Posted on February 12, 2007 10:31 PM » Category: Buffoons

I love this piece. Ben Goldacre rips the dreadful 'PhD' Gillian McKeith apart.

It is too much to hope that after this demolition job, we will never hear another word from Ms McKeith. But I hope so, nonetheless. (There was a rather more subtle demolition job a couple of years ago, in a wonderful interview by Rachel Cooke.)

I have to admit I have never heard of this McKeith person. She sounds diabolocal - literally. The sad thing is that she is one of so many. I haven't heard of any of them, the Pinters and the Livingstones (Is he a Doctor too?), and that awful cat man. Perhaps it is a filter in my brain that denies the existence of charlatans and parasites. Who are they? I understand that many of them hang around Whitehall these days, looking for sound bites, apparently. Is perhaps McKeith in the Cabinet, whoever they are? It wouldn't surprise me. I think I will have a word with Tony ... Tony ... No, I haven't heard of him either. Good day, Sir. Its been a pleasure.

Gillian McKeith is awful, I was going to send her something to express my opinion of her but then I realised that she is the only woman on the planet who would regard a turd in the post as fanmail.

Thanks for the link, Stephen. I can now not watch the dreadful Dr McKeith as a matter of principle rather than just personal distaste.

The whole link between diet and health outcomes was spectacularly blown out of the water recently (basically if you're not a huge fattie then what you eat is almost completely immaterial), and yet charlatans like this awful harridan continue to leach off people. They're like psychics and astrologers, and in that respect merit the fate that Charlie Booker prescribes: they must die alone in windowless cells.
