Brown's guess
» Posted on October 30, 2006 01:29 PM » Category: The way we live

Gordon Brown says that carbon trading could lead to 100,000 new jobs. Don't you just hate those entirely spurious figures that get bandied about? Why not 98,000? Why not 102,000? Truth is it's a guess, and no more than that. He might as well have said 100,876 new jobs, for all the idea he or anyone can have.

One has to hope - I say this not yet having seen the Stern report - that the basis of the rest of this morning's figures isn't equally spurious.

I've seen excerpts from it and it doesn't look good. Appears to be inflated in its claims.

They don't give a toss how many Iraqis have been blown up today. They couldn't care less about global warming. In both cases the bastards on the Left are driven into paroxysms of self-righteous rage because it affords them an opportunity to give vent to a hatred of those things they dislike most - America, Western society, capitalism.

Meanwhile, a certifiable lunatic has threatened on numerous occasions to destroy the Jewish state and is going hell for leather to develop nuclear weapons. Those same bastards on the Left have made plain they don't give a toss. That's because they rather cotton to the notion of wiping Israel out. That this danger is a lot more more imminent and probable than global warming and that they and their families will be next in line for nuclear incineration has escaped their attention.

Selective outrage is one of the more sickening and stupid aspects of the Left.
