Stephen, I hate saying it but the story of the Green Helmet has been around for almost two weeks. First broken by us, I am glad to say. The video has also been around for a day or two.

Doesn't make it any less poignant for all that.

Some people did not think that the photos were conclusive. Now, the video leaves no doubt that this is not a "deperate rescue worker". But I am beginning to question whether European societies can still digest this sort of information.

Remember. The regime of Saddam Hussein collected bodies of dead children - who had died from natural causes - from all over the country and refrigerated them until they had enough to stage a big anti-sanctions protest with dozens or hundreds of tiny coffins. It is the same lesson over and over again.

Many such things were already known - but why are so few willing to say the obvious? Can enough people still learn and act on what they have learned?
