Congratulations to Arsenal, who by salvaging a draw yesterday against Tottenham have guaranteed a place in next season's UEFA Cup. That's quite a performance for a scratch international XI.
No doubt their fans will be licking their lips in anticipation of playing teams of Finnish fisherman and part time Moldovian motor mechanics in the UEFA round robin stage at their new stadium. Enjoy it, Gooners!
Such a shame that M Henry will now be off to play Champions Leage football. If he wants to stay in North London, he could always pop up Seven Sisters Road.
UPDATE: And well done to Tottenham's feeder team in getting to the cup final. Shame you'll lose your last match of the Premiership season, though.

I understand your excitement, Stephen, but isn't there the small matter of the Champions League this year still to be negotiated? Finnish fishermen and Moldovan motor mechanics may still be Tottenham's lot...
Arsenal to beat Barcelona?! Foregone conclusion. They've as much chance as I have of winning gold in the 2012 Men's 100 metres.
Stephen,
As an avid and long-time Spurs fan I am surprised to read such optimistic thoughts.
You seem to betray most Spurs fans at this time who are fretting about the upcoming games with West Ham and Bolton. I surely do not have to remind you that we did not beat either team earlier on in the season...
As for Arsenal in the Champions League, well, did you think Porto or Liverpool would win the Champions League in the past two seasons?
A very nervous Spurs fan
Ben
Ho ho, Pollard. Very droll. But if Sperz do make it to the Champs League then many congratulations to you. All it took was our worst season for 20 years, your best season for 20 years and half of our defence on the deck. Given your goal at The Home of Football a couple of years ago it'll be a change to see you score one fair and square some time.
By the way, what are you up to on Tuesday night? I imagine that a Sperz fan will be at something of a loose end. you could always pop along to see North London's newest landmark:

I am a Norwegian who often read your comments (alongside Oliver Kamm, Norm`s blogg, Melaine P. David Aa...) It does take some of my time, it is well worth it. Why I do this? Well, I guess it goes back to my youth (I was born i 1951). As you probably know, Norway was occupied by Nazi -Germany during the last big war. My father had to flee, he managed to get to your country, like a number of others in Europe I would not have been around hadn`t it been for Great Britain who stood her ground alone when the US was still not taking part and Stalin was allied to his soulmate, Hitler. I have been to your country a number of times, I keep on enjoying it.
And yes, I am an ardent Spurs fan. I watch them on TV - we have been able to watch British soccer live since the late sixties - I listen to the BBC World Service for commenst on games they play and I have been to London a number of times to watch them play. I am sure we will make it to the Champions League, I would love to see Arsenal fail - that is not because they have a Swedish player among their first 11! By 2011 Spurs will have won the League, the double and Europe. A naive optimist, maybe. But we will have won something. Keep on writing - Einar
Ah come on there's grounds for optimism. Aaron Lennon tore Senderos and Flamini to pieces, they must be having nightmares this week. Now think of what a certain Lionel Messi could get up to.....
Feeder team? Hmm. You have Carrick and Defoe from us. We have Sheringham and Etherington from you. Not sure that logic stands up! Mind you - I'd probably swap them back! And as to the end of the season match - we'll see. But you know, franklyy I couldn;t give a toss anymore. But I do look forward to you lot being knoecked out of the UEAF Cup earlier than us...
Typical Spurs fan - more interested in Arsenal failure than Tottenham success! I guess the mental wounds left by Christian Gross and Sergei Rebrov still need a bit longer to heal...
The two are intrasinctly linked this season Jonathan, Arsenal failing means Champions League football for us, plus the added bonus of you losing your best player and suffering huge financial difficulties to boot. That would be pretty good payback for bribing your way into the top flight at our expense all those years ago ;-).
Andrew Paterson
Christ on a bike, 95 years and you're still rolling that one out! I think what Jonathan was getting at though is your footballing joy over the years arriving by dint of Arsenal losing a big game. Hence, a Moroccan overhits a through ball in Paris when playing for Real Zaragoza and you lot wet yourselves. The fact that it took place in yet another final for The Arsenal seems to elude you.
Yes, you may (and I think you will) take fourth place and The Arsenal may fail to win the Champions League this season. If so I'll be quite sanguine about it. I can afford to be, for I know that we are The Arsenal and I'll be one of 60,000 (that's 60,000) watching them next year bring us more wonderful football and, quite possibly, silverware. On the other hand, you lot have never seen a Champions League game at White Hart Lane (capacity 36,215 - heh) and are desperate to do so. Our standard is set by being undefeated champions, the height of your ambitions is a desperate scramble for fourth against a team having its worst season since 1996.
Tonight, we play for a place in the Champions League Final, you watch Eastenders. You are the gnat, we is the thoroughbred whose arse you bit on Saturday. Oh well done you Lillywhites!
Pete,
Corruption is corruption but at least you don't deny it.
I hope you enjoy Cashburden Grove, it is a very nice stadium, but without Campions League income I fear your 2006/2007 balance sheet could be as red as those 60000 seats. Enjoy! ;-)
Ok chaps. Its now up to Barca to defeat the forces of evil and get spurs into the champions league. The wondrous Catalans should be able to take the Gooners but they'll need all the support they can get. Place your orders with me for Barca shirts, scarves etc and I'll make sure they get to you in time to wear on 17 May!
congratulations to spurs on qualifying for the champions league season 2006-2007.
