Marvellous Oliver Kamm post on how I and my fellow London council tax payers coughed up to find Ken Livingstone's anti-Bush soiree last week.

You'll probably end up paying something towards next year's anti-globalisation European Social Forum in November 2004, which is going to be held in London.

Add that to the extra cost of policing Bush's visit and it wasn't really a good week for the taxpayer.

To be fair to Ken not everyone who disrupts the town and brings the traffic to a halt meets with his approval.
Take the Spiderman bloke who occupied a crane at Tower Bridge a couple of weeks ago because he was prevented from seeing his kids.
Like many in that position he said he was being denied justice by the courts and had decided he had no alternative.
Livingstone joined in the condemnation of this bloke - seemed to say he deserved all he's got.
Presumably if he expressed support for the murder of British soldiers like Galloway or actually had a hand in it, like Gerry Adams, he'd have had a champagne reception.

Yes, but Ken encouraged the festering masses to protest against Bush and plug up London. It was not Bush's fault it was such a pain in the arse, it was Ken's and his fellow anti-Bush/pro-Saddam loons.

The hypocrisy/mendacity of Kamm and his band of commissars beggars belief. The Bush and Blair's photo-op lunch in Sedgefield *alone* was expected to cost in the region of £1 million.
